The Proteomics group of LAFUGA is focused on holistic proteome approaches using latest state-of-the-art techniques. Both, a multidimensional LC-MS-MS-approach based on ion trap ESI-mass spectrometry in combination with stable isotope labelling (e.g., ICAT, isotope coded affinity tag, Applied Biosystems) as well as gel-based approaches using 2D-DIGE technology (GE Healthcare Bio-Sciences) are applied for differential quantitative approaches to protein expression profiling of eukaryotic tissues, cells or body fluids. For validation of results from holistic approaches, a strategy for generating peptide induced antibodies with monoepitopic binding characteristics has been developed by the group (iSEPIA-technology).
