Functional Genomics of Animal Reproduction
Our group is part of the Genomics unit of the Laboratory for Functional Genome Analysis (LAFUGA) and the Chair for Molecular Animal Breeding and Biotechnology. We are located in the Gene Center of the LMU Munich that is embedded in a large life science campus in close neighborhood to the faculties of Biology, Chemistry and Pharmacy, and Medicine, Max Planck Institutes for Biochemistry and Neurobiology, Helmholtzzentrum München (Hämatologikum), Innovation Center of Biotechnology IZB, and the University Hospital Großhadern.
We are particularly interested in endometrium biology during early pregnancy and the sexual cycle in domestic mammals such as cattle, pigs and horses with focus on the characterization of similarities and species-specific differences in the mechanisms of recognition and establishment of early pregnancy.
Our research is mainly based on transcriptome analyses using microarray and next-generation sequencing technologies.
